I suppose I have always known that being creative, using our hearts, hands, and minds to express ourselves, is a redemptive process. I returned to art in my early 50s as simply a calming practice that began with morning reflections, which led to sketches in the margins of a gifted Bible. I began to share my thoughts and small drawings, and over time, and with a bit of timidity, moved to canvases. The timing of this growth coincided with my becoming an empty nester. Friends and family expected this shift to be difficult for me, and yet, I embraced it and saw it as an invitation to invest more fully in painting.
