Ollie & Caity Antoinette

Published:

It’s only a hop, skip, and a jump away…

I can see a lot from my little corner of the workspace. There’s a lot of hustle here — whether it’s carrying boxes for pop-up markets or sitting for hours painting with my artist mom, Caity Antoinette. It’s perfect for me, a bunny who doesn’t sit still very well. Although painting time is my favorite because I get to run around.

Oftentimes when I leave my kennel, I’m hopping over pieces of paper strewn around the floor with sketches from the latest collection or design inspiration. The morning light from the windows is my favorite. It’s the perfect time for doing zoomies!

Sometimes when we have visitors come over, I like to hop over their feet and say hi. I particularly like to show off my climbing skills during this time. I always forget how many cool places I can get to.

The studio is located away from home and heading over there is my favorite part of the day — though the car rides aren’t my favorite. I can’t really see much, but it doesn’t take us too long. We usually leave home about 10 a.m. and it’s only five minutes away. The coolest part is that it’s in a renovated garden shed! You should have seen it before it was painted … it definitely got an upgrade for sure.

Just the other day we had to pack up our gallery collection that was on display at a local coffee shop, Insomnia Coffee Co. here in Hillsboro, Oregon, after a whole month on the walls! There were so many nice people there. People can sometimes make me nervous, but I don’t mind when they pet me.

At the studio, I’m usually running around. Sometimes I venture onto the counters — I love the view from up there. I can see all the action.  Plus, I like to take the pencils and toss them in different places.

It isn’t always the brightest in the studio and so there are all these lights, which I don’t mind because it gives me more things to run around and jump over!

Just recently, a painting was finished after almost TWO months. It kept going back and forth back and forth. I thought it would never be done! But “King Tide” went from almost being a mountain range to a rolling wave. The gold really hits the spot when the light hits it just right.

We finish up anywhere from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. On the rare but beautiful occasion, where time slips away from us in this slow little world of ours, we come back home peaceful and refreshed. Then, I find myself taking a very long and well-deserved nap…
