What happens when you mix two creative women who dream big and delight in making new friends? You get a collaboration of inspiration mixed with a deep desire to share what you’ve learned with others. Our story as friends began several years ago when a mutual friend named Tiffany Kirschner-Dixon introduced us. We spent the weekend enjoying laughter, dancing, cooking classes and making new friends. I left with a heart overflowing with gratitude. More importantly, it was the beginning of a new forever-friendship, which brought me back again and again for more!
Terri and I both grew up living in the countryside. I grew up in Northern California, and Terri grew up in Washington State. We both have hearts that love and want to build relationships with other women. We each know firsthand, in our own way, that each day we are given is a gift. Not every day is sunshine and rainbows, but each day does, however, hold within it the magic to be creative. Creativity comes in so many facets; the possibilities are endless.

Let me tell you about my dear friend Terri. She found her creativity through learning mixed media and working with paper mache, designing for several giftware companies and traveling to China as a designer. She worked in manufacturing and design for several years before branching off to design jewelry. After her girlfriends saw pieces she had made, they asked if she would teach them. She then began teaching and hosting classes and retreats across the United States and then in Italy in 2014. It was just what she needed in her life after losing her mother and father, and since then, Terri’s work has been featured in multiple publications. She loves teaching soldering and silversmithing, sharing her talent and skill with others, through her online classes and events hosted from her beautiful home studio. Terri is a wonderful teacher and host with a wealth of information, mixed with patience even for the beginner. There are a lot of women who are enjoying making jewelry across the world today because of Terri sharing her passion.

Terri is also in the beauty industry working as a hairdresser for over 36 years! It’s just one more thing we have in common! I’ve been blessed to work in the beauty industry, a career I love, for the last 34 years. I love knowing I have the opportunity to enhance someone’s true beauty. I take full advantage of the time I have with my clients sharing words of affirmation and encouragement. The years of motivating people daily eventually led me to become a life coach.
I can remember as a young girl coming across one specific book in my mother’s library called Dare to Dream. After reading it, I chose those three words as my life’s mantra. Fast-forward now a few years, after speaking at an event, I had a woman come up to me and ask if she could introduce me to her boss. Well, her boss was none other than the author of my all-time favorite book, Dare to Dream. I almost needed CPR! Over the years, I’ve learned to be watchful for those serendipity moments and to be brave and courageous.
If you look up the word “create” it literally means to bring something into existence. This is exactly what Terri and I did when we created our Light and Fire creative retreats.
Our Light and Fire retreats are designed to create a space where you can recharge your soul. Each day is woven together with rich Italian culture through exploring new places, antique markets, culinary and creative jewelry workshops. We know firsthand the life-changing moments that can take place at these retreats. Each and every woman who attends leaves with a renewed sense of how unique and beautiful she really is. We not only want our attendees to fall in love with the beauty of Italy but to also fall in love with the woman they see in the mirror.
She is full of bright light. Even when the world is heavy upon her shoulders, she manages to stand strong and let her light shine. She also has a fire that burns deep within.
