As a child of the 50s, in the panhandle of Texas, I never dreamed of the life I would have before me. Marriage and babies were expected, but along the way, a professional career in the floral industry and the world of flower show competitions evolved. My skills were honed and expanded with each blue ribbon, trips far and wide, museums and galleries visited, and classes with international instructors. My experiences have been varied from the very basics of floral design to National Council of Flower Shows judging; to providing group educational travel in floral design and Danish embroidery techniques with long time best friend and former business partner Sharon Stephan of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; to conceiving and executing programs, conferences and exhibitions on flowers, fibers and women nature writers; to wedding extravaganzas with Preston Bailey and Colin Cowie and numerous speaking/demonstration engagements, including Art in Bloom at Museum of Fine Arts Boston. All have provided venues for expressing and displaying my gifts working with line, color, form, texture, and utilizing my skills of organizing experiences for the public.
