Brian Steege has always thought of our world as a place of incredible beauty. Using Instamatic cameras—remember them?—he photographed whatever interested him, and by the time he reached junior high, he had saved enough money to purchase an all-black Canon AE-1 with a 50mm 1.4 lens. Shortly thereafter he built a darkroom with his dad and learned everything he could about photography. Somewhere in the dark, he decided that he wanted to capture light. He decided he wanted to be a professional photographer. Twenty-five years later, he’s still going strong. Combining photography with his love of adventure, he sees the opportunity to share the beauty of the world with others who might want to understand how photography can tell personal stories, wherever and whenever they find them.
