
My initial lessons were in watching. As a child, I would sit for hours with my great-grandmother, working with natural materials and felt. Her hands moved softly and almost mysteriously. She showed me how fragile fibers, handled rhythmically, could be transformed into different shapes. I recall the warm aura of the pieces we made together. It stayed silent for years until I returned to it in Canada.
