Sweet Georgia / Felicia Lo
My name is Felicia Lo, and I’m the founder and creative director of SweetGeorgia, an artisan hand-dyed yarn company, and the School of SweetGeorgia, our online platform for learning the fibre arts. Founded in 2005 and based in Vancouver, Canada, we have always focused on creating exquisite colours in luxurious hand-knitting yarns and spinning fibres inspired by our Pacific Northwest landscape. It’s our mission to bring joy to more makers through colour and craft.
This year, we developed a completely new SweetGeorgia Colour System, which features 28 clear and vibrant hues that we call the Element Collection. By mixing the Element colour formulas together, we created our beautifully rich, nuanced and infinitely wearable Elixir, Ethereal and Enigma colour collections. The goal of our new Colour System is to create colours that mix and blend together effortlessly, making picking colours for craft projects a much easier experience.
All of our yarns are beautifully blended and spun from natural fibres — including merino, silk, Bluefaced Leicester wool, mohair, cashmere and linen. Our yarns range from lace weight to worsted weight and can be used for everything from knitted or crocheted sweaters, socks and shawls to woven projects. Our fan favourites include our “Party of Five” mini-skein sets of five curated and coordinated colours and our ombré hand-dyed “Sock Blanks” for gradient colour effects.
Inside our School of SweetGeorgia, we have built a membership-based online fibre arts school where we are helping “multicraftual” makers learn all the aspects of the fibre arts — including knitting, crochet, spinning, dyeing, weaving, tapestry and design and colour theory. The school helps makers with everything from the challenges of choosing colours for craft projects and juggling time and priorities to managing a creative mindset as well as all of the techniques and skills for each craft. I also share my multicraftual maker creative journey each week on our YouTube channel at www.YouTube.com/@SweetGeorgia.
We are looking forward to being a part of h+h again this year! We hope to meet and connect with other business owners and entrepreneurs on how to work together to make more makers. We are excited to share our passion for unapologetic colour and craft with this maker community!
