Catching Up With … Holly Wach

When we featured painter Holly Wach’s story in WHERE Women Create at the end of 2021, she shared what it was like growing up with an artist mom, and the many twists and turns of her own creative journey, including educating herself on something her art school education did not teach her: how to make a living making art. At 42, she had the realization, “If not now, then when?” She shared: “I Googled, ‘artists making a living at art.’ I ignored the naysayers. Like my mom, I started turning the house into my studio. I committed to painting every day. I discovered Instagram and used it as an opportunity to show up each day with something new to share. I researched and followed artists who were taking their careers into their own hands, outside of the gallery circuit.”
