On this month’s MAKER MOMENTS livestream, Jo Packham is joined by Cindy Cloward, a lifelong sewist and the owner of Riley Blake Designs. Cindy became an avid quilter during the early days of launching Riley Blake Designs. She and her husband, Bret — plus a talented group of artists and a dedicated team of employees — have grown this family business into one of the leading fabric manufacturers in the sewing and quilting industry.
Cindy is passionate about well-designed fabrics and loves to sew and quilt whenever she has a spare moment. RBD is also known for producing quality notions and finished goods — including a unique seam ripper that Cindy dreamed up, designed and patented in the U.S., Canada and Europe. It’s called Cindy’s Seam Ripper and its original design has earned it praise as the “best little unpicker.” She is also the visionary behind Garden of Quilts, an outdoor quilt show that is unlike any other show in the world and just celebrated its fourth year in Utah in September. Beyond fabric, Cindy always says her best creations in life are her children and she gets infinite joy from spending time with her family. She and Bret are the grateful parents of four children, and have three grandchildren.
