Susan Wienke developed a passion for photography in high school because she wanted to follow in her older brother’s footsteps. A consummate traveler and adventure seeker, she has always had a camera in hand. Much to the chagrin of others, she can be found lagging behind on outings trying to capture the perfect shot of something that has caught her eye, usually mushrooms and native flowers. Eventually, Susan upgraded to a DSLR, snapping photos of her son and his teammates racing bicycles locally. After 10 years of photographing bike races all over the world, she has expanded into capturing photos of art and artists in her role working for Art & Light Gallery in public relations.
When a DSLR is not in hand, her cell phone is always capturing all the nature on long hikes in the mountains or bike rides around the world. She is inspired to tell stories through the use of photographs and loves to have long conversations and critiques with her son, who is also compelled to observe life from behind the lens.
